Tour "VULCANIC WATERFALL in the heart of Kamchatka"

Hiking to the volcanic lava of the former eruptions of Kliuchevskaya Sopka, with a waterfall and rapids of the mountain river

09:00. Departure from the village of Klyuchi by truck or jeep. Short drive on the forest road along the bed of the mountain river that starts at the foot of the Kliuchevskaya Sopka volcano.

09:40. Start of the hike to the rapids of the mountain river. We follow the trail along the riverbed, periodically we come to the dead forest bordering the riverbed. The trail leads to the rapids of the mountain river. We admire the whirlpools at the rapids. Further - a small ascent to Ryabinovaya Mountain, from which there is a beautiful view of the northernmost Kamchatka volcano Shiveluch. We go to the waterfall, formed on the cut of volcanic lava in 1932. The volcanic waterfall drops its "chocolate" flow from the lava cut. Exit to the lava. View of the Kliuchevskaya Sopka volcano.

Tour "To Kamchatka's giants"

***An additional bonus can be climbing the volcanic cone Kozlovsky. But it will be possible only with good physical preparation of the whole group.

Automobile and pedestrian excursion to the foot of the highest active volcanoes in Eurasia.

08:00. Departure from Klyuchi village by car. Ascent by forest and mountain roads to the altitude of 1000 meters, to the area of Karaulnaya Mountain, on the northern slope of Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano.

10:00. Start of the hike to the mountain lake Derzhavina, with an elevation gain up to 1,600 meters. Total distance (both ways): 16 km. We will walk through alpine meadows and cross the beds of dry rivers. At one point we will wade across a shallow mountain stream (with shoe covers provided by us). On the way we will see a beautiful waterfall.
From the very beginning of the route - views of the Kliuchevskaya Sopka and Krestovsky volcanoes, as well as the Shiveluch, Sleeping Beauty, Sredny and Zarechnaya Sopka volcanoes.
We come to the shore of the mountain lake Derzhavina. Here Kliuchevskaya Sopka and Krestovsky volcano open to our sight in all their glory. We drink tea in a stone house near the lake. We start the return journey.

Tour "Mysterious Shiveluch"

ALTERNATIVE: In case of deteriorating weather conditions on the day of the excursion (strong wind, fog, precipitation) we offer tourists to change the route to a simpler one. It provides walking along the left bank of the Baidarnaya River without crossing its bed, without climbing the ridge and Mount Baidarnaya. We go to Shiveluch along the traces of pyroclastic flows.
Total length in this case is about 10-15 km in both directions. Time: about 6 hours. Both distance and time depend on weather conditions and physical abilities of tourists.

The third, the most "easy" variant of the trip is also possible. Travel along the dry bed of the Kabeku River. Inspection of the fumarole formations of the 2023 eruption. Observation of the volcano from a distance. Physical exertion is minimal at this time.

July to October

The total length of the hiking part of the excursion is about 22 km in both directions. Time: about 10 hours. Difficulty - average. Suitable for people in good physical condition.

Tourists should be equipped with sturdy shoes with hard soles (trekking boots or high sneakers), hiking clothes, small rucksack for extra clothes (raincoat, sweater), thermos flask with tea and a snack. Trekking poles will be provided if needed. We will provide psychological support to motivate you to overcome the difficulties.

Trekking to the foot of the northernmost active volcano of Kamchatka. Exclusive route allows you to safely approach the southern face of one of the most active and unpredictable Eurasian volcanoes and see the panorama of Shiveluch in all its glory.

Excursion program:
Transfer by prepared transportation to the area of the southern slopes of Shiveluch (travel time - about one and a half hours). If the weather is good, you can see the northern face of the Klyuchevskaya volcano group while driving to the Shiveluch sand. Parking near the bed of the Baidarnaya River. Start of the hike.
Crossing the riverbed. Continue along the right bank of the river, passing dead forest. Exit to the high cliffs of the canyon, cut by water streams in pumice deposits. Photo with dead forest and canyon in the background.

Ascent to the Baidarny ridge. Movement along the ridge towards Shiveluch. Here the route passes through alpine meadows and tundra. You can see beautiful views of rock formations (including the spur of the Dragon's Tail), remnants, side cones and the Shiveluch sand valley, marked by pyroclastic flows of former eruptions. Alpine meadows of the Baidarny Ridge are the habitat of the famous gopher (Eurasian gopher).

Ascent to the top of the ridge - to the top of Baidarnaya Mountain (1760 m above sea level). Exit to the lookout point where the best panoramic view of the Old and Young Shiveluch cones opens up. We walk along the lava flow, take photos, have a snack, drink tea and start the return crossing.

Walk to the volcanic lava of former eruptions of Klyuchevskaya Sopka, dead forest in the bed of the mountain river

08:00. Departure from Klyuchi settlement by jeep or specially equipped car. Short drive on the forest road along the bed of the mountain river that starts at the foot of Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano.

08:40. Start of the hike. We walk along the dry riverbed and admire the dead forest. If the weather is good we can see the volcanoes Klyuchevskaya Sopka, KRESTOVSKY and MEDNIY.

After the stone rapids we turn to the forest path and start climbing Ryabinovaya Mountain, which offers a wonderful view of the northernmost Kamchatka volcano Shiveluch.

We continue to the frozen lava flow, which formed bizarre stone sculptures on the slope of Klyuchevskaya Sopka after the eruption in 1932. We walk along the lava flow, cross the riverbed and come to the lava. Views of the volcanoes open up both on the way and on the lava itself.
